Lee Sports Wisconsin columnist
Lee Sports Wisconsin seeks a sports columnist to be a voice for and of the people of the state.
The position will be based in Madison, Wisconsin, and the main focus will be University of Wisconsin athletics. However, the columnist also will write on the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers and tell great stories wherever they are found.

The ideal candidate will be a reporter at heart who relishes the chance to transform the facts they gather, the relationships they build and the conversations they have into fearless commentary, detailed analysis and must-read features.
The right candidate will be:
- Comfortable telling stories and connecting with their audience in multiple formats, from longform writing to live video to podcasting to social posts and everything in between.
- An eager team player who collaborates with reporters and editors across the state.
- Passionate about local news and the communities that depend on it.
- Active on social media and welcome interaction with fans and stakeholders both online and in person at events.
- Able to demonstrate their ability to build an online audience.
- Ready to develop and tackle investigative projects that explain trends, deepen readers’ understanding of issues or hold leaders accountable.
Other things what will be helpful in this role:
- Demonstrated ability to drive online subscriptions.
- Experience working on a Division I college or professional sports beat.
- History of speaking truth to power, even when uncomfortable or unpopular.
