Lisa Wilson, President

Lisa Wilson is managing editor/NFL for The Athletic. She worked as senior editor/sports for ESPN’s The Undefeated, the premier platform for exploring the intersections of race, sports and culture from 2017-18. She was executive sports editor of The Buffalo News from 2011-17, the nation’s only black female sports editor at a major metropolitan daily.
During Lisa’s tenure, The News earned two Grand Slams (2014 and 2012) and three Triple Crowns (2011, 2013 and 2015) in the Associated Press Sports Editors’ annual contest.
The Buffalo native started at The News as a copy editor and layout editor in 1998 and was promoted to assistant sports editor in 2007. A 1991 graduate of Canisius College, she worked at the Niagara Gazette in Niagara Falls, N.Y. from 1992-98 as a sports reporter, features editor and sports editor.
Gary Potosky, First Vice President

Gary Potosky has been sports editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer, which includes the Philadelphia Daily News and inquirer.com, since 2015. He was deputy sports editor of the Inquirer, and deputy sports editor of the Asbury Park Press (NJ) prior to that.
During Gary’s tenure, The Inquirer has been a triple crown winner (2017) and has been judged Top 10 website in the largest APSE contest category. During his time as sports editor, The Inquirer has transitioned into a digital-first newsroom with a fast-growing subscriber base.
The Middlesex, N.J., native earned journalism and history degrees from Rutgers University (New Brunswick, N.J.) in 1987. Gary has attended every national conference since 2015, and every judging conference since 2014. He has been Commissioners Committee chair since 2016.
Jorge Rojas, Second Vice President

Jorge Rojas has been the managing editor of The Athletic/Florida since 2018.
Previously, Jorge was the longtime sports editor at the Miami Herald, where he worked for 24 years (14 as executive sports editor). He was an associate editor at The Sporting News and copy editor at the Orlando Sentinel before taking the job as an assistant sports editor in Miami. His work at the Herald included coordinating and supervising coverage of many big events — Super Bowls, NBA Finals, World Series, college football championships, NASCAR championships and seven Olympics — and several high-profile news stories, including the 2016 death of José Fernandez, which won national awards and was nominated for a Pulitzer. His sections consistently won APSE awards along with state, regional and national recognition.
A native of Miami and a 1985 journalism graduate from the University of Florida, Jorge has been a member of APSE since 2000. He served as the diversity chairman for more than a decade and has been a fixture on the Olympic, Commissioners and Futures committees. Along with Michael Anastasi, he helped launch the APSE Diversity Fellowship and was instrumental in securing a two-year, $31,500 grant from the Knight Foundation for the Fellowship in 2016.
Steve Hemphill, Third Vice President

Steve Hemphill is in his 11th year as the sports editor at the Roanoke Times.
Steve joined APSE in 1998 and served as the chair of the Atlantic Coast Region for two years (2016-17), in addition to being named chair of the Futures Committee. A graduate of Colorado State University in 1989, he spent more than a decade at the Longmont (Colo.) Daily Times-Call, working as a copy editor and sportswriter before moving up to sports editor.
Steve‘s journalism career began at the Scottsbluff (Neb.) Star-Herald, where he spent more than three years doing a number of tasks, including writing, design and editing.
Bill Eichenberger, Executive Director

Bill Eichenberger, an assistant sports editor at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, is a former senior editor at Bleacher Report. He’s also served as New York sports editor at the Wall Street Journal and as sports editor at Newsday, the Akron Beacon Journal and Macon Telegraph. He teaches journalism at UNLV and is a graduate of the University of Georgia. He was president of APSE for the 2003-04 term.
Glen Crevier, Conference Coordinator

Glen Crevier retired as assistant managing editor for sports at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis in 2018, a position he held since 1998.
He was previously sports editor at the News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash., and the Santa Rosa (Calif.) Press Democrat. After graduating from Hiram (Ohio) College in 1975, he was a sports columnist for the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, Ariz., and the Sacramento Union.
Crevier has been involved with APSE since 1988, and he was president of the organization in 2005-06.
