AWSM and the APSE Atlantic Coast Region are teaming up for a region meeting on Nov. 4 from 9 to 4 at The News & Observer in Raleigh. The theme will be "Cheap and easy ways to increase content."

Among the sessions planned are:

Practical ideas for beefing up your Web site: The panel will give some easy ideas for getting more online content. Everyone is encouraged to join in the discussion, so please bring some ideas of your own.

Practical ideas for beefing up your newspaper: The panel will give some easy ideas for getting more content in print. Again, everyone is encouraged to join the discussion, so please bring some ideas.

Working with college sports information departments: A panel of sports information directors and sports editors will discuss the relationship between sports information departments and newspapers. What can sports information departments do to better serve newspapers? What can newspapers do to make that process easier for the SIDs? And how can newspapers better use sports information departments to get content?

Student discussion: Students from nearby colleges are being invited to come in and discuss the state of the industry. How do they view the future of newspapers? What kind of content do they think is important?

General session — best ideas: An open discussion on everyone’s best ideas from the previous year, plus any other general topic the group would like to discuss.

The meeting is open to anyone, including APSE and AWSM members and non-members and area students. Registration is $20, which will mainly cover a catered lunch.
