A two-sentence description of your site.
College Hockey News is the definitive resource on the sport, with comprehensive news, analysis, features, and all of the statistics and historical data any devotee would want. Though college hockey is niche, the fan base is passionate, loyal and relatively large in certain pockets, and we serve that audience in a way that no one else can or will, with a staff of writers that is second to none.
A by-the-numbers description of  your organization’s reach — unique visitors per month, other relevant metrics.
Unique visitors per month is approximately 180,000 on average – it fluctuates depending upon the time of year. Page views is approximately 1.8 million per month, with a peak of 2.5 million each March. The numbers have increased every year since its inception in 2005. In addition, our highly-regarded first-class mobile app (stats, rosters, and live scores of games) gets another 2 million page impressions per month on average, with a peak of 3 million.
A description of why you want to join.
Being part of APSE adds recognition and legitimacy to what we do — which is not to say we aren’t already highly-regarded, but it’s nice to be part of a greater community. We’re a small organization, but one that takes journalistic practices very seriously, and while not the Washington Post, we strive, within our niche, to cover the sport as well as a large organization would cover the larger sports. We also have had so many fantastic articles over the years, I’d like to see CHN be eligible and recognized potentially for awards. And I’d like to be able to participate in conferences, network, and hear and join in discussion of the industry. I worked in daily newspapers for many years, both in sports and news, and have a deep-rooted personal interest in journalism and where it’s headed.
