Five of APSE's nine regions have new leadership with promotions to region chairs and the selections of new vice chairs.
Region chairs serve two-year terms and are part of the organization's executive committee. Among the most important duties are planning and executing region meetings; providing information for the newsletter about happenings with members in the region; and recruiting new members.
Here is a look at the new region chairs and vice chairs:
Great Lakes: Jeff Kuehn, sports editor of the Oakland (Mich.) Press, succeeds Paul Skrbina, associate sports editor/high schools of the Chicago Tribune, as region chair. Eric Olson, sports editor of the Northwest Herald (Crystal Lake, Ill.), is the vice chair.
Mid-Atlantic: Paul Vigna, sports editor of the Harrisburg (Pa.) Patriot News, succeeds Josh Barnett, executive sports editor of the Philadelphia Daily News. Mike Harris, sports editor of the Washington Times, is the vice chair.
Southeast: John Bednarowski, sports editor of the Marietta (Ga.) Daily Journal, succeeds, Jon Johnson, sports editor of the Dothan (Ala.) Eagle. Tommy Deas, executive sports editor of the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News, is vice chair.
Southwest: Keith Campbell, deputy sports editor of the Dallas Morning News, succeeds Brad Lehman, Texas sports editor for Hearst. Jon Styf, sports editor for the Beaumont (Texas) Enterprise, is the vice chair.
West: Mark Faller, sports editor of the Arizona Republic, succeeds Lauren Gustus, sports editor of the Reno (Nev.) Gazette-Journal. Gene Warnick, sports editor of the Los Angeles Daily News, is the vice chair.

Atlantic Coast: Steve Trosky, sports editor of the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch, is the region chair. Colleen McDaniel, sports section editor for the Norfolk (Va.) Virginian-Pilot, is the vice chair.
Canada: Tom Maloney, sports editor of the Toronto Globe and Mail, is the region chair. There is no vice chair.
Great Plains: Reid Laymance, sports editor of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, is the region chair. Kirk Seminoff, sports editor of the Wichita (Kan.) Eagle, is the vice chair.
Northeast: Matt Pepin, sports editor of Boston.com, is the region chair. Hank Winnicki, assistant managing editor/sports for Newsday, is the vice chair.
Northwest: Kevin Brown, sports editor of the Everett (Wash.) Daily Herald, is the region chair. Jerrel Swenning, sports editor of the Yakima (Wash.) Herald-Republic, is the vice chair.
