The Marin Independent Journal, an award-winning multimedia daily located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area, seeks a sports editor to lead a three-person team. As part of the Bay Area News Group, the IJ emphasizes coverage for the athletic programs of 10 county high schools, an NCAA Division II university, a community college and numerous weekend-warrior events. Opportunities to cover Bay Area professional and D-I college sports always arise. The ideal candidate is an experienced sports editor with a proven record of at least two years managing, creating and conceptualizing content. Ability to manage full-time sportswriters, a team of freelancers and members of a remote design desk is appreciated. The sports editor works nights and weekends.
