The Miami Herald is looking for a Miami Heat beat writer. The right candidate will have these qualities:

— A relentless pursuit of news on the beat.
— Superior writing skills, with the ability to excel at long-form features and projects; to write cohesive, insightful stories on deadline; and to quickly update daily stories with incremental news as it happens.
— Multi-media skills that include active blogging, tweeting, participation and visibility on TV and radio, and occasional roles in staff-produced and outsourced videos.
— Active engagement with audience on social media, from Twitter to Instagram and back.
— Proven skill at developing sources in a competitive news environment.
— NBA beat writing experience preferred, but not required. Knowledge of free agency and the salary cap is also preferred.
