  • Jonathan Andrade announced he was laid off as a high school sports reporter at The Acorn Newspapers in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. 
  • Michael Baron was laid off as sports editor at The Calhoun (Georgia) Times. 
  • Josh Bean left his sports reporter role at AL.com for a job outside of journalism. 
  • Beau Bearden said he was laid off as a sports reporter at the Kingsman (Arizona) Miner.
  • Bill Bilinski retired as sports editor at the South Bend (Indiana) Tribune. 
  • Chris Boan was laid off by the Times Media Groups. 
  • Bobby Burack announced his departure from The Big Lead.
  • Jac Collinsworth returned to NBC to cover the Olympics, NFL and Notre Dame football. He was most recently with ESPN.  
  • Nick Felice joined the Finger Lake Times in Geneva, N.Y., as a sports reporter. 
  • Tucker Franklin said he was laid off as sports editor at The Maryville (Missouri) Daily Forum. 
  • Brian Hofmann announced his departure from the sports department at The Dispatch in Columbus, Ohio. 
  • Randy Kindred retired as sports columnist at the Bloomington (Illinois) Pantagraph. 
  • Corey Kirk joined the Baker City (Oregon) Herald as sports editor. 
  • Michael Lananna accepted a new role covering South Carolina athletics at The State in Columbia, S.C. 
  • Grant McGalliard announced he was laid off as a sports reporter at the Hood County News in Granbury, Texas. 
  • Morgan McMullen was laid off as sports editor at The Vinton (Iowa) Eagle. 
  • Matthew Narvaiz announced he was laid off as a sports reporter at The Taos (New Mexico) News. 
  • Robert Rimpson joined FOX 4 Kansas City as a sports producer. 
  • Omari Sankofa II announced he joined The Detroit Free Press to cover the Pistons. 
  • Joe Scalzo said he’s departing his sports reporter role at The Repository in Canton, Ohio. 
  • Kevin L. Smith said he was temporarily laid off as sports editor at the Palladium-Times in Oswego, N.Y. 
  • David Teel joined the Richmond (Virginia) Times-Dispatch as a sports columnist. He was previously with The Daily Press in Newport News, Va. 
  • Hannah Underwood started covering Texas A&M for The Dallas Morning News. 
  • Deadspin re-launched with Jim Rich as editor, Carron J. Phillips as senior writer/editor, Sam Fels as a writer, and Jesse Spector as a writer. 
  • ESPN added Katherine White in a new role. Harry Lyles Jr. joined ESPN from SB Nation. 
  • Flagrant Magazine was launched by Editor-In-Chief Ashtyn Butuso, Creative Directors Brazilia Morales and Bethany Marrie Ito, and Director of Design Alex Haigh to cover basketball. 
  • The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette moved Mike Persak to the Pittsburgh Pirates beat and Nubyjas Wilborn to the Penn State beat. 
  • Sports Illustrated announced layoffs that included Chris Ballard, Jack Dickey, Kalyn Kahler, Sarah Kwak, Laken Litman and Tom Mantzouranis
  • The Tampa Bay Times laid off sports editor Mike Sherman and high school sports reporter Rodney Page.
