Rivals.com, the #1 college football and basketball digital destination, is looking for an experienced, Santa Monica-based editor to lead the editorial and programming team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports in general, and football/basketball recruiting in particular, and excellent judgment with regard to related breaking news and continuing coverage. The candidate will have a talent for effectively leading editorial strategy for a team of analysts, video producers, editors and programmers – as well as more than one hundred content partners. The candidate must be a team-leader. The candidate should be competitive and aggressive in pursuing the best coverage, with a strong eye for photos, charts and other multimedia elements to support each story. The editor will actively participate in social media and will lead all digital analytics. Depth of knowledge in sports should be matched by the highest levels of creativity and enthusiasm.
Minimum Job Qualifications
· Minimum of eight years editorial experience with a preference for covering sports with a previous focus on college football and basketball and recruiting
· Previous management experience
· Excellent news judgment
· Advanced principles of packaging, editing and programming for digital experiences
· Advanced knowledge of digital analytics and importance of programming based on user behavior
· HTML skills and experience with online publishing tools, including Dreamweaver and Photoshop
· Strong interest and usage of social media and multimedia
· Strong attention to detail
· Excellent organizational skills
· Strong experience with image databases, such as AP and Getty
· B.A. required
