Sauk Valley Media in northwestern Illinois is looking for a dynamic leader with a passion for sports, a knack for storytelling, and an eye for design to lead an award-winning sports department. Our sports coverage wins state and national awards yearly, a tradition we intend to continue.
Sauk Valley Media publishes two daily papers: the Telegraph, in Dixon, and the Daily Gazette, in Sterling. Part of family-owned Shaw Media for more than 150 years, we plan to continue producing outstanding products – in print, online and beyond – for another 150.
The successful candidate will manage a 5-person team that provides complete coverage of local high school sports. We cover the games, but we excel at features, enterprise stories, and previews.
Some professional experience is required, and leadership experience is preferred. Priority will be given to candidates who have experience reporting, designing pages, and being active on social media. Hours for the position vary, but are mostly nights and weekends. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, reliable transportation and acceptable motor vehicle record.
