The United States Basketball Writers Association and Associated Press Sports Editors urge colleges and universities to preserve the essential role that independent media organizations play in covering men’s and women’s college basketball while safeguarding the health of all participants. We are grateful to the College Sports Information Directors of America for its role in producing recommended policies and protocols that all schools and event operators will use as they navigate the unique challenges ahead. APSE and the USBWA strongly encourage all schools, event operators and the National Collegiate Athletic Association to continue following these policies so that the media’s role can be carried out safely for the benefit of all fans and all schools they support.
